Pre-diwali celebrations at Hima’s native village after her name recommended for Arjuna Award

Guwahati, Sept 18 (IBNS) : A small village Kandhulimari near Dhing town in central Assam’s Nagaon district witnessed another celebration after India’s new track and field sensation Hima Das’s name was recommended for the prestigious Arjuna Award.

People of Kandhulimari, native village of Hima Das started celebration by burning firecrackers after hearing the news.

A youth of Kandhulimari village said that it is another joyful moment for them that, Hima Das’s name has been recommended for Arjuna Award.

“Today we are so happy that, Hima Das’s name has been recommended for Arjuna Award. It is another joyful moment for us. She had already carried big achievements to Dhing and Assam. We are celebrating for it and it is a pre-diwali celebration,” the youth said.

Recently, the Assam government and the people of Assam accorded a red carpet welcome to the golden girl after she returned to her homeland.
