Warsaw/Xinhua/UNI: The Polish Football Federation (PZPN) confirmed on Saturday that a friendly match against Sweden, which was to be played on 28th March 2020, is canceled as both teams will face each other in the UEFA 2020 group phase.

"We are trying to find another rival to play a friendly match. The chairman of our federation Zbigniew Boniek hold the negotiations, I also talked to one federation. It's not an easy matter for now, because a lot of teams have already their own plans before UEFA Euro 2020.

We had bad luck and we have to change the plan. We want to play against strong opponents as a preparation for the final tournament," said Poland's coach Jerzy Brzeczek in the interview for Przeglad Sportowy.

Except for Sweden, Brzeczek's team have been drawn against Spain and play-off winners B in Group E. "It's the final tournament, so we have to be ready to compete against the best teams. We will play two matches in Dublin so It would be logical to have the base there," the Polish Football Federation Zbigniew Boniek was quoted as saying by TVP.

Spain is a strong favorite to win the group, but Boniek believes that the Polish players will be able to make a surprise. "We beat them in the past. It certainly won't be easy, but we want to do great things. It's important to win the opening game," added the former Juventus player.

The tournament, which will take place in 12 cities across Europe, will be hosted across the continent for the first time to mark the 60th anniversary of the competition. It will be played from June 12 to July 12, 2020.
