Mumbai, Sept 14 (IBNS): Bollywood production company Yash Raj Films announced on Wednesday that they will reward Indian Gold medallist Paralympian Mariyappan Thangavelu.

Thangavelu secured the top slot in men's high jump T-42 event.

"After Yash Raj Films announced to honour Indian athletes who won Gold at Rio Olympics with 10L cash, YRF is now very proud to announce that they will reward Paralympian gold medal winners too and salutes Mariyappan Thangavelu for his historic Gold win in men's high jump T-42," an official state from YRF read.

"The studio believes to celebrate the sportsman spirit of these athletes and their life sized dream that emerged victorious! The 10 lakh rupee cash reward for Rio Paralympics winners is a gesture on similar lines- that of saluting the indomitable spirit of sports and champions, against all odds and every small gesture goes a long way," it added.
