Pakistan Cricket Board to 'sack' BabarAzam as skipper

| @indiablooms | Nov 15, 2023, at 07:43 pm

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to remove cricketer Babar Azam as skipper from all formats of the game.

The decision has been taken after the country's poor show in the ongoing World Cup.

Pakistan could not cross the group stage of the tournament.

Sources told Geo News if Babar decides to submit his resignation, the board would accept it, otherwise, PCB will sack him from the post.

They added that Shan Masood is a strong candidate for the captain's slot in the upcoming Test series against Australia and Shaheen Shah Afridi for the T20I series in New Zealand.

Babar was appointed as white-ball skipper in 2019.

He took charge of the Test squad in 2021.

Under his leadership, Pakistan failed to win any ICC or Asia Cup titles.
