New York, Sep 2 (IBNS): In US Open Tennis, Leander Paes and Purav Raja advanced into the second round of Men's Doubles Tournament, while Rohan Bopanna and Sania Mirza crashed out of men's doubles and mixed doubles, respectively, at the Flushing Meadows, media reported on Saturday.

Paes and Raja, in their first outing in the tournament as a pair,  beat Serbia's Janko Tipsarevic and Viktor Troicki 6-1, 6-3.

Tweeted US Open Tennis on their official handle, "Can you believe it's been 24 years since @Leander Paes made his debut at the #USOpen."

They will face the Russian pair of Karen Khachanov and Andrey Rublev in the next round.

Meanwhile, Bopanna partnering with Uruguay's Pablo Cuevas lost to former Australian Open winners Fabio Fognini and Simone Bolelli, in the men's doubles second round match.

Sania Mirza and her mixed doubles partner Ivan Dodig of Croatia lost to the Latvian-French pair of Jelena Ostapenko and Fabrice Martin, media reported.

But Bopanna and Mirza still have a chance in the tournament --  Bopanna will play the first of his mixed doubles match with Canadian Gabriela Dabrowski, while Sania and her Chinese partner Peng Shuai will play their first round in the  women's doubles.
