ODI: Warner guides Australia to victory

Sydney, Jan 16 (IBNS): David Warner smashed 127 as he guided Australia to register a three-wicket victory over England in the first One Day match of the Carlton Mid One-Day International Tri-Series here on Friday.

Chasing England's 234, Australia reached 235 runs for the loss of seven wickets with 61 balls to spare.

Warner smashed 18 boundaries in his 115-ball knock.

Apart from Warner, Steven Smith (37) runs with his willow but the rest failed to deliver with their willows.

Chris Woakes took four wickets for England by Australia reached the target in 39.5 overs.

England were earlier all out for 234 runs in their 47. 5 overs.

England's new skipper Eoin Morgan battled a single war with his 136-ball 121 but the rest did not contribute much with their willows.

Moeen Ali (22) and Jos Buttler  (28) were the only two other batsmen to cross the 20-run mark.

Mitchell Starc and James Faulkner clinched four and three wickets each respectively.

India is the third team playing in the series.
