Nadal defeats Thiem, wins 12th French Open title in 15 years

Paris, June 9 (IBNS): Rafael Nadal beat Dominic Thiem 6-3, 5-7, 6-1, 6-1 on Sunday to win his 12 French Open and 18th Grand Slam Title.

Known for his prowess on clay, this was Nadal's 12th French Open title in 15 years.

With 18 Grand Slam titles, the 33-year-old Nadal is right behind Roger Federer's 20, the record in men's tennis.

Federer had lost to Nadal in the French Open semi-finals this time.
