MCG: 93,013 attendance Aus-NZ final
Melbourne, Mar 29 (IBNS): Setting a new record, 93,013 spectators attended the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) here to witness Sunday's high-voltage World Cup final match between Australia and New Zealand, officials said.
MCG said the attendance during Sunday's final clash surpassed previous record of 91,112 spectators which was set in 2013.
"WORLD RECORD! The @MCG crowd figure has gone past the previous best at any #cricket match (91,112 in 2013)," the official Twitter page of MCG said.
"Official @MCG attendance tonight is a new #cricket record: 93,013! #CWC15Final #AusvNZ," it said.
Australia defeated New Zealand to clinch the World Cup for the fifth time in the history of the country's cricket glory.
