Leander Paes- Martina Hingis clinch Australian Open title

Melbourne, Feb 1 (IBNS): Indian Tennis star Leander paes joined another icon Martina Hingis defeated Canada’s Daniel Nestor and Kristina Mladenovic of France to add another Australian Open title to their crown here on Sunday.

Paes and Hingis defeated their opponents 6-4 6-3 to clinch the mixed doubles title.

Hingis, who had twice retired earlier, showed her brilliance on the court and proved once again that she remained hungry to win more titles in her Tennis career.

The Swiss icon has won seven Australian Open singles title so far.

With this title, Leander was has won 15 men’s and mixed doubles titles.

“Martina – thank you for lending me Leander!” Hingis was quoted as saying by the Australian Open website as she drew a a smile from Navratilova in the stands.

“I know you won your last (Australian Open) title together. Not even in my wildest dreams that 20 years later I’d be standing here again," she said.

Paes was quoted as saying by the website: “It’s a great honour to keep coming back to Australia."
