Kondwani Mtonga retained by Indian Super League side North East United FC

New Delhi, June 24 (IBNS) Indian Super League Franchise North East United FC has retained Zambian International Kondwani Mtonga for the entire duration of the second edition of the ISL.

Kondwani Mtonga began his career with a Zambian club Zamtel Ndola in 2007 before moving to Zesco United in the Zambian Premier League.

Mtonga helped Zesco win two Zambian Premier League championships over the past seven years.

After having signed on the dotted line, Kondwani was quoted as saying, “I am glad to stay with North East United FC for another season. I definitely have improved as a player over the past 5 months. I hope to build on from last season, and contribute towards the club picking up some silverware in the coming season. I will do my best to contribute in the team’s success in any way I can and repay the faith shown in me by the team management.”

Sukhvinder Singh, Managing Director- Libero Sports India, a leading strategic football consultancy was quoted as saying, “Kondwani put in some strong performances for North East United FC last year, and we expect him to continue in the same way and with his experience and maturity, he will look to be a vital cog in North East United FC’s team for the 2nd edition of ISL.”
