Panaji, Oct 2 (IBNS) Pune FC Women’s Team strikers Sasha Pimento and Smriti Girish have been selected to represent the Maharashtra Under-18 squad in the upcoming Junior Women’s National Football Championship to be held in Goa from Oct 5.

The duo who have been part of the Pune FC Women’s Team since their launch earlier this year, follow in the footsteps of Ella Dubey and Aishwarya Gadekar who represented Maharashtra Under-15 in the Sub-Junior Championships in May.

Both Sasha and Smriti played an important part in the Women’s Team’s runners up finish in the inaugural PDFA Women’s League 2015 while also playing a few other local tournaments.

Sharing her excitement, Smriti Girish said, “I am really happy (for being selected) and I am looking forward to playing with the Maharashtra team. I want to give my very best in the Nationals.”

Striker Sasha Pimento said, "It’s an honour to be selected to represent Maharashtra. It will be a great experience overall and I am very excited."

Maharashtra have been clubbed in Group C along with Sikkim and Haryana and will play all their matches at the Raia Sports Complex in Goa.
