IPL 2026: Delhi Capitals outplay KKR At Eden
Kolkata: Delhi Capitals signed off their IPL 2026 campaign in style with a commanding 40-run victory over Kolkata Knight Riders at a subdued Eden Gardens, where the home side’s playoff hopes had already evaporated before the first ball was bowled.
KL Rahul produced a blistering 60 off just 30 balls, setting the tone for Delhi’s imposing 203/5 after KKR skipper Ajinkya Rahane opted to field first.
Rahul mixed elegance with aggression, finding boundaries at will during a destructive middle phase that pushed Kolkata onto the back foot early. Useful contributions from Axar Patel, David Miller and Sahil Parakh ensured Delhi never lost momentum.
Chasing 204, KKR began with intent but failed to sustain partnerships despite a fighting 63 from captain Rahane. The innings gradually unravelled as Kuldeep Yadav spun a web around the middle order while Lungi Ngidi struck crucial blows with the new ball and at the death.

KKR were eventually bowled out for 163 in 18.4 overs, ending a disappointing season on a flat note in front of their home crowd.
The match had effectively turned into a dead rubber even before toss time after Rajasthan Royals’ earlier victory over Mumbai Indians confirmed the final playoff equation. Yet Delhi showed greater hunger and composure, finishing their season with three consecutive wins while exposing KKR’s inconsistency once again.
For Eden Gardens, the evening felt unusually muted. The crowd arrived hoping for one final flourish from the defending champions but instead witnessed another reminder of a campaign filled with missed opportunities, batting collapses and fluctuating momentum.

Delhi, meanwhile, left Kolkata with pride restored and momentum regained, even if it came too late for a playoff push.
