Ahmedabad/UNI: Captain Sanju Samson and Shimron Hetmyer's fifties helped Rajasthan Royals beat Gujarat Titans by three wickets in a thrilling IPL match at Narendra Modi Stadium here on Sunday.

Batting first, GT set a target of 178 runs before RR which the visitors achieved with four balls to spare, riding high on Samson's 60 off 32 balls and Hetmyer's unbeaten 56 off 26 balls.

Inspite of Samson's dismissal, Rajasthan needed 64 runs in last five overs. From here, Hetmyer ensured RR's victory in the cut-throat competition.

Mohammed Shami conceded 16 runs in the 19th over, but also succeeded in taking crucial wickets of Dhruv Jurel and Ravichandran Ashwin.

RR needed seven off the last over, and Hardik Pandya gave the ball to debutant spinner Noor Ahmed to stop Hetmyer.

However, the West Indies batter hit the winning six off the second ball of the over.

RR have topped the points table with four wins and one loss from five matches, while GT are third with three wins and two losses.
