Mumbai: Indian cricketer Shubman Gill, who is known for his dynamic batting style, got the first COVID-19 vaccine shot on Saturday.

Shubman shared the image of himself getting vaccinated on Twitter.

He tweeted, " Get your superpowers upgraded as soon as you are able to. Massive shoutout to all the doctors and frontline workers for putting in all the effort."

Apart from Gill, Rishabh Pant, Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane, Cheteshwar Pujara, Umesh Yadav, Ishant Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah have already taken the first dose of the COVID 19 vaccine at different centres in the country.

Head coach Ravi Shastri was the first from the Indian cricket team to receive the vaccine. He got his first jab in the first week of March, when vaccination was made open for all senior citizens.

Last month, the government announced vaccination for all those above the age of 18 years in the third phase of nation's Covid-19 vaccination drive that started from May 1.
