India-West Indies series: Third ODI called off

Mumbai, Oct 12 (IBNS) As Cyclone Hudhud hit Visakhapatnam on the coast of Andhra Pradesh on Sunday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to call off the third ODI match between India and West Indies at ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium here, media reports said.

The port city was scheduled to host the match on Oct 14.

BCCI joint secretary Anurag Thakur, who is also the president of the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association, the governing body of the Dharamsala stadium told ESPNcricinfo: "Due to extreme weather conditions, the BCCI has had to cancel the [third] ODI. It is disappointing but we cannot overcome natural calamities."

"Even though the host association was hopeful of staging the match if weather cleared, the BCCI didn't want to take any risk," he said.

The series will be a four-match contest now.

After two matches, the series is currently leveled at 1-1 with both the sides winning a match each.
