Ahmedabad/IBNS: India decimated West Indies in the first Test by an innings and 140 runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium here on Saturday.

Team India wrapped up the match within three full days as West Indies were barely in a position to even fight against the mighty hosts.

Ravindra Jadeja picked four wickets in the second innings to help India bowl out West Indies for merely 146.

Mohammed Siraj, who took a four-fer in the first innings, picked three in the second to back Jadeja, who carried forward his spectacular allround form from the England tour.

Earlier, India declared their innings at 448-5.

Wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel (125), Jadeja (104) and KL Rahul (100) were the top scorers for India.

West Indies were bowled out for 162 in the first innings.

Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah had picked four and three wickets respectively.

India took an unbeatable 1-0 lead in the two-match series.

The second and final Test will be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on October 10-14.
