Ahmedabad/IBNS: In reply to Australia's mammoth first innings total of 480, India steadily countered the visitors in the inaugural session of day three of the fourth Test riding on Shubman Gill and skipper Rohit Sharma.

India stopped at 129/1 when they returned to the dressing room for lunch.

Shubman Gill displayed his skill in the morning and remained unbeaten till lunch scoring 65 off 119 balls.

Along with Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara is still at the crease scoring 22 off 46 balls.

Despite giving a good start to the team, Rohit was dismissed softly by Matthew Kuhnemann after a solid 35.

India are leading Australia in the four-match series 2-1.
