Kolkata/IBNS: "India is not competing globally, we are just creating miracles," said tennis legend Mahesh Bhupathi recently in the city.

"India is not competing globally, we are just creating miracles," he said at a recent interactive session.

He shared insights into his illustrious career and the attributes that define a world-class athlete in conversation with ALFA Network.

Bhupathi, an icon in the sporting world, has not only left an indelible mark on the tennis court but has also ventured into the beauty and wellness industry with his Mumbai-based company, Scentials.

Reflecting on his partner selection strategy on the court, Bhupathi revealed, "For me, I found the one who can complement your game, and initially I was not strong at the net so I looked for someone who was better at net."

Bhupathi's illustrious career has been marked by numerous achievements, but he considers his consistent presence in the top 10 rankings as his most significant triumph.

"Staying and dominating the craft you excel in is my biggest achievement amidst the several injuries and setbacks," he stated.

Replying to a question over what makes a player number one in the world, Bhupathi provided a perspective.

"Tennis is a physically demanding sport, and few are disciplined enough to be at the top. It requires strong mental strength, and if it doesn't come from within, you can't be at the top," he affirmed.
