India continue with medal hunt
Incheon, Sept 28 (IBNS): India continued their medal hunt on Sunday with super performance in the track & field section at Asian Games in Incheon.
India began the ninth day by bagging silver in the track events when Khushbir Kaur finished second to win silver medal in Women's 20km Race Walk.
In Tennis, Yuki Bhambri settles for bronze after losing his men's singles semi-final.
India assured of gold or silver in Tennis, Men's Doubles after Sanam Singh-Saketh Myneni got through to the finals.
In women’s section, Sania Mirza and her partner Prarthana Gulabrao Thombare loses their semi-final match 6-7, 6-2, 10-4.
The duo settles for Bronze.
In Wrestling, India's Yogeshwar Dutt put up an incredible comeback to pin down Katai Yeerlanbieke of China to move into Men's Freestyle 65kg Final.
He has assured himself of gold or silver.
In Boxing, Mary Kom wins her bout and is through to the semis in Women's Fly (48-51kg), while Sarita Devi beats Suvd Erdene Oyungerel of Mongolia in Women's Light (57-60kg) and is through to semis.
Earlier, India finished Saturday on a high note when it grabbed 2 gold in archery and squash.
First in the morning, Indian archers created history by clinching first ever gold in Men’s compound team event.
To add to the glamour, the Women’s compound team clinched the third spot, winning bronze.
In the evening, Indian Men’s squash team bagged gold, the third for the country while their female counterpart grabbed the Silver medal.
“So happy to win 2-0 today!!! Played so well to win 3-1 & I managed to win 3-2!!! Gold medal it is! BOOM!!! So happy,” tweeted member of the gold winning men’s squash team, Sourav Ghosal.
On the other hand, women squash player Deepika Pallikal commented, “Unbelievable effort by the boys today. Unfortunately we girls had to settle for silver. Great week for Indian Squash!”
