India beat Sri Lanka by five wickets, clinch series 3-0

Mumbai, Dec 24 (IBNS): Riding on Shreyas Iyer (30) and Manish Pandey's (32), India defeated Sri Lanka by five wickets and four balls to spare in the third T20 match here on Sunday to clinch the series.


After Sri Lanka were restricted at 135 for the loss of seven wickets, India reached 139 runs by losing five wickets.

Rohit Sharma scored 27 runs.

MS Dhoni (16*) and Dinesh Karthik (18*) remained unbeaten till the end to clinch the match and the series 3-0.

Smart bowling by Indian bowlers helped restrict Sri Lanka at 135 runs for the loss of seven wickets in the last T20 International match of the series here on Sunday.

Asela Gunaratne remained the top scorer for Sri Lanka with his 36 runs knock.

He hit three boundaries in his knock.

Apart from Gunaratne, Sadeera Samarawickrama (21) and Dasun Shanaka (29*) made some crucial contributions with the willows.

Unadkat and Hardik Pandya picked up two wickets each for India.
Washington Sundar, who made his T20 debut in the match, picked up a wicket.

Mohammed Siraj and Kuldeep Yadav also took a wicket each.
