Islamabad, Oct 30 (IBNS): Pakistani cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan and his wife Reham Khan have divorced with mutual consent, ten months after they were married last year.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief married Reham Khan in December last year.

Imran Khan said  divorce was a painful time for him and  Reham.

"This is a painful time for me & Reham & our families. I would request everyone to respect our privacy," Imran Khan tweeted.

"I have the greatest respect for Reham's moral character & her passion to work for & help the underprivileged," the politician  said.

"Reports & speculation about financial settlements are absolutely false and shameful," he said.

Imran Khan had earlier married Jemima Goldsmith.

They divorced in 2004. The couple has two sons together – Sulaiman, 18, and Qasim, 15.
