I-L: Mumbai FC hope to do the double over Churchill Bros

Pune, Apr 12 (IBNS): Mumbai FC will hope to do the double over Churchill Brothers when they host the defending champions in an I-League Round-25 encounter at the Shree Shivchhatrapati Sports Complex in Pune on Sunday.

With only two games remaining this season and both at home, eighth-placed Mumbai FC (25 pts) will be keen to make their home advantage count hoping to improve their position.

Moreover, having already beaten Churchill Bros 2-0 in Goa at the start of the season, Mumbai FC will be confident for a similar result.

Visitors Churchill Bros come into the game on the back of a 4-match winless run in all competitions; something the home side will be keen to capitalise on. However, Mumbai FC will need to be wary of the opponents who are battling relegation and are in desperate need for points.

Churchill Bros will be heavily banking on striker and top scorer Balwant Singh who has contributed nine of the Goans’ 19 goals this season.  Joining him upfront will be Trinidad and Tobago World Cupper Anthony Wolfe who has chipped in with four goals.

Mumbai FC Coach Khalid Jamil has praised the team’s performance in the last two games - coming from behind to beat Shillong Lajong and earning a last minute draw at Dempo SC.

The Coach expects a similar performance against Churchill and wants his team to end the I-League campaign on a high.

Over the years both side have faced each other twelve times with Churchill Bros boasting six wins compared to Mumbai FC’s two. Thus a win on the morrow will not only help Mumbai FC complete a double but also improve their overall record against the Goans.
