Mumbai, Oct 25 (IBNS): South African batsman Hashim Amla wrote a new chapter in the history of record books as he became fastest batsman in the world to score 6000 runs in ODI on Sunday.

He achieved the new record during the fifth ODI against India.

Scoring just 23 runs in the match, which included five boundaries, Amla achieved the moment as he pulled Mohit Sharma for a boundary towards midwicket.

He reached 6000 runs by playing 123rd innings. He broke the record set by Indian Test skipper Virat Kohli who had reached the landmark in 136 innings.
