Gujarat cricketer Samit Gohel creates world record with his triple ton, breaks 117 year old record
Gohel scored the highest unbeaten total by an opener in first class cricket when he overtook Bobby Abel's score of 357 not out, which the Surrey player scored against Somerset at The Oval (Englad) in 1899.
It took a 723-ball stay at the crease, for Gohel to break the 117-year old record, hitting 45 fours and a six.
Gohel, 26, is the fourth triple centurion in the history of first-class cricket to carry his bat through the innings, reports said.
In this ongoing Ranji tournament, Samit Gohel is the fifth batsman to score a triple century.
At the end of Tuesday's play, Gujarat ended their second innings for 641 runs, setting a target of 704 runs to win for Odisha on the final day.
