Bhubaneswar, Dec 14 (IBNS) Germany defeated Asian giant Pakistan 2-0 in the final of the Champions Trophy here on Sunday.

Christopher Wesley (18th minute) put ahead Germany as the side lead the match 1-0 at the end of the first half of the match.

Florian Fuchs (56th) scored the second goal to help his side lift the trophy.

German defence was strong as they kept preventing the Pakistani players from scoring as  they kept attacking in the match to score the equalisers.

The Asian side faced a jolt ahead of the match as International Hockey Federation (FIH) handed a one-game ban to two Pakistan players and reprimanded another for their obscene behaviour  following their win against India in the semi-final match last week.

Muhammad Tousiq and Ali Amjad were suspended for a game while Shafqat Rasool was warned for their acts after the match against India.

India's plan of clinching at least a bronze medal in the Champions Trophy perished as they were defeated by Australia 1-2.

Australia won the bronze medal.
