French Open 2018 final: Simona Halep beats Sloane Stephens to win maiden grand slam title

Paris, Jun 9 (IBNS): World number one Simona Halep won her maiden grand slam title by defeating American tennis player Sloane Stephens in the French Open 2018 final here on Saturday.

The Romanian tennis icon defeated Stephens 3-6 6-4 6-1.

After the win, Halep said: "I was dreaming of this moment since I was starting to play tennis. I’m really happy it’s happened in Roland-Garros in Paris - my special city."

She said: "In the last game I felt like I can’t breathe anymore. I did everything I could. It’s amazing what is happening now."
