Former Congress chief Sonia Gandhi admitted to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital

New Delhi: Former Congress president and United Progressive Alliance (UPA) chairperson, Sonia Gandhi was admitted to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital here on Wednesday, a statement said.

“Sonia Gandhi, chairperson, UPA has been admitted to our hospital today. She has been admitted in the Department of Chest Medicine under the care of Dr Arup Basu and his team," Dr Ajay Swaroop, chairman (Board of Management), Sir Ganga Ram Hospital said.

She has been admitted for observation and treatment of a viral respiratory infection, Swaroop added.

Meanwhile, former Karnataka Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Siddaramaiah wished speedy recovery to the former party chief.

"Sad to know that senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi is admitted to the hospital. I wish her a speedy recovery and healthy return," he tweeted.
