Finch backs Warner over sledging
"Having a guy like that (Warner) in your team is fantastic,” Finch told Adelaide radio station 5AA this afternoon," Finch was quoted as saying by cricket.com.au.
“He sticks up for anyone and backs anyone up, but it’s unfortunate it came to that (a fine)," he said.
“Every now and then it just boils over, it’s not a nice thing to have happen and to go on Davey’s record so if he does something minor again he might miss a game. He knows he toes the line quite a bit and we love the way that he plays," he said.
Warner was earlier fined 50 per cent of his match fee after committing a Level 1 breach of the ICC Code of Conduct.
The incident happened on the last ball of the 22nd over during a match between India and Australia recently when Warner approached India batsman Rohit Sharma and confronted him aggressively after the batsmen had taken a run from an over-throw. The Australian had to be withdrawn from the confrontation by both the on-field umpires.
Warner accepted the offence and the proposed sanction, and therefore a formal hearing was not required.
