FIFA World Cup Qualifiers: Medio Dhanpal Ganesh named in final 26-man squad

New Delhi, June 6 (IBNS) Pune FC midfielder Dhanpal Ganesh has been named in the 26-member Indian squad for the twin-World Cup Qualifiers against Oman and Guam scheduled on June 11 and 16 respectively.

For medio Ganesh, the call up will be his second at the senior level having been earlier called up for the preliminary round qualifier against Nepal in March. In fact, Ganesh even made his debut in the away clash in Kathmandu.


Stephen Constantine-led India will take on Oman at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru in the opener on June 11 before travelling away to Guam to face the South-East Asian side in the second round in the following week.


Meanwhile, striker Thongkhosiem Haokip who was in the initial list of 38-probables misses out on the final selection


The 26-member squad announced by national coach Stephen Constantine is as follows:


Goalkeepers: Subrata Paul, Laishram Prem Kumar Singh, Sanjiban Ghosh, Gurpreet Singh Sandhu


Defenders: Rino Anto, Lalchhuanmawia, Reagan Singh, Dhanachandra Singh, Arnab Mondal, Gurwinder Singh, Sandesh Jhingan, Augustin Fernandes


Midfielders: Cavin Lobo, Md. Rafique, Eugenson Lyngdoh, CK Vineeth, Jackichand Singh, Seityasen Singh, Sehnaj Singh, Dhanpal Ganesh (Pune FC), Mandar Rao Dessai, Francis Fernandes


Forwards: Sunil Chhetri, Robin Singh, Holicharan Narzary, Jeje Lalpekhlua
