Fate of women World Cup final changed in last one hour: Jhulan
Addressing the students of Aditya School of Sports (ASOS) here Monday , Jhulan, who bagged three England scalps in the World Cup final in Derby, England last month , said “In cricket nothing can be predicted."
She said: "During the final we tried our best. But in the last one hour the game changed. Yes we have missed it narrowly, but we have been able to make an impact about women cricket among the people all over the country.”
ASOS, where Jhulan is a mentor, is the result of an initiative taken by city based AdityaGgroup a year ago.
At present the school has nearly 400 boys and girls learning cricket and football under the guidance of prominent coaches in Bengal.
The ASOS students felicitated their mentor for her fine performance in the last World Cup and presented a cricket ball made of silver, a memento and a jersey signed by the boys and girls learning cricket in ASOS.
The women cricket icon advised students to keep their connection with whatever sports they like as “it teaches one so much in life”.
Jhulan said, “ You may not take up sports as a career. But be connected with some sports as it will teach you how to overcome if any difficulty arises."
Replying question from the media , Jhulan informed that she is looking forward for the next World Cup and would begin her practice schedule in right time after about ten days time.
England defeated India to win the World Cup.
