Diptayan Ghosh reach third and final Grandmaster Norm

Ho Chi Minh City, Mar 13 (IBNS) Diptayan Ghosh made his third and final Grandmaster Norm when he played a Short Draw against his compatriot Swapnil Dhopade in the last round of the 6th HD Bank Cup International Open in Ho Chi Minh City,Vietnam on Sunday.

Diptayan remained undefeated in the 9 Round event by scoring six points. The strongest tournament in South East Asia  was won by the top seeded  Grandmaster Wang Hao from China.

Diptayan had achieved his first Grandmaster norm in Dubai in the year 2013,following up with his superlative performance in Pardubice,(Czech Republic) in 2015.

The prodigy from South Point School becomes the youngest among the seven Grandmasters of West Bengal,the others being Dibyendu Barua,Surya Shekhar Ganguly,Neelotpal Das,Saptarshi Roy Chowdhury and Deep Sengupta.
