Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik has come out with his support for star batsman Virat Kohli, who is going through a lean patch, saying it was impossible to rule out a player like him.

Speaking to The Times of India, Karthik said, "Virat has experienced insane success over the period of time.

"Now he will get a good break and will come back all recharged and hopefully, will do phenomenally well. You can never rule out a player of his calibre."

Kohli, who is yet to score a hundred since 2019, has been struggling to score runs for quite some time.

The recent T20I and ODI series were also bereft of big scores for Kohli, who got off to quick starts but failed to cash in.

On the other hand, Karthik, who was out of Team India for long, had a dream comeback to the national side boasting on his terrific performances in the Indian Premier League.

Speaking about his success and Team India's bench strength, the veteran said, "It is never easy, but I have worked hard for it. Also, given the bench strength that we have today, the competition is always going to be a part of it. This is the beauty of Indian cricket."
