Delhi's Ankit Mohindra shines in the first day of Tata Amateur 2019

Jamshedpur, June 28 (IBNS): Tata Amateur 2019 kicks off in Golmuri GC, Jamshedpur on Thursday.

Delhi's Ankit Mohindra carded the only under-par round of the day an one under 71 in the opening round to make his way to the top of the leaderboard. Significantly, Ankit never earned a lead going into the final day of any feeder tour event before.

The duo from Jamshedpur Aryan Agarwal and the Order of Merit leader Bimal Singh Sardar sit two strokes off the lead with one over 73. Kolkata Souvik Nayak who is yet to taste the first victory this season shot two over 74 to find himself in the mix.

From the Mid-Amateur category, Bijit Roy is leading with a score of 96 and Akhtar Ali is spearheading the senior's category as he shot an 88. From the ladies section, Jamshedpur's Tanisha produced a near-perfect round of 84(she made a 10 on the 16th) which earned her nine-stroke lead over Kashissh Khanna.

From the Under 15 Junior category Aryavir Singh's 88 gave him the pole position, Two siblings Rachit Ranjan Singh and Archit Ranjan Singh are leading the Under-11 and Under-9 age category respectively.
