New Delhi, Apr 11 (IBNS): This April will see a football revolution sweep Delhi. Young and budding football players in the city born in 2002, 2003 or 2004 got an opportunity to showcase their talent.

The shining stars will get a chance to be a part of a skill enrichment workshop and larger opportunities. They will train alongside some of the best fresh talent across the country.

Continuing its efforts in grassroots and youth football development, the Delhi Dynamos Football Club (DDFC) our national capital’s very own football team in the Hero Indian Super League, launched the second leg of its grassroots programme in Delhi-NCR.

DDFC aims to create sustainable opportunities for children (born in 2002, 2003 or 2004) in the region through Open trials, starting April 11, 2015. Around 1,500 people including parents and kids turned up for the open trials in the capital.

In 2014, the inaugural year of the Hero Indian Super League & the Delhi Dynamos FC, the Dynamos had initiated a grassroots football development program in Delhi, ‘Junior Dynamos’, which became one of the  largest ever Inter-School Football Tournament with a participation of over 2400 Players from over 180 schools.

The Dynamos are now stepping up their game by holding Delhi’s first ever open football trials to identify and nurture real footballing talent at a young age. DDFC hopes to refine these children’s game skills, enhance their technical knowledge and ultimately mould them into professional football players.

Commenting on the occasion, Shakti Chauhan (Coach, DDFC) said, "In 2015, with the view of continuing and expanding the scope of our grassroots programme, we have launched the ‘Delhi Dynamos FC Open Football Trials’ in association with the Hero Indian Super League. Through a series of such open trials to be held in Delhi NCR on a regular basis, we intend to identify raw and young football talent in our young Delhites between the ages of 11 & 13, and nurture, develop and enhance their skill sets with professional training. These trials are Delhi’s first ever initiative in the direction of sustainably developing and encouraging football talent in the city. We want to provide an effective platform for the budding footballers in Delhi & North India to come and display their talent."

On future plans for grassroots by the Delhi Dynamos FC, Vaibhav Manchanda (Vice President, DDFC) said, "Grassroots and Youth Football development is an integral part of our Club’s mission & vision. We feel that as Delhi’s football team, we have a fundamental responsibility to nurture football as a sport and support the talent in our city. This trial is the first in a series of such events. We are currently working on some very big initiatives in the grassroots development space. Our aim is to find the next football heroes for India from Delhi and North India, represented our country in the international arena."

He further said on Junior Dynamos (2014), "Since its formation and launch last year, the Delhi Dynamos FC has not only represented our capital in the Indian Super League, but has also taken up the mantle of developing football in Delhi NCR with gusto. Before our first season in 2014, we launched & successfully executed our maiden grassroots initiative - ‘Junior Dynamos’ in Delhi NCR. Junior Dynamos was one of the largest Inter-School Football Tournaments held in our national capital, and we saw a participation of over 2400 Players from over 180 schools"
