David Warner steps down as Sunrisers Hyderabad captain over ball-tampering row

Hyderabad, Mar 28 (IBNS): Australian batsman David Warner has stepped down as the captain of the Indian Premier League franchise, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), over his involvement in the ball tampering case that had shaken the Australian cricket.

The SRH has tweeted to inform the news of Warner's stepping down as the skipper of the IPL side.

"In light of recent events, David Warner has stepped down as captain of SunRisers Hyderabad. The new captain of the Team will be announced shortly.” – K.Shanmugam, CEO, SunRisers Hyderabad" the SRH tweeted.

Australia opener Cameron Bancroft had attempted to tamper the ball during a test match against South Africa days ago.

The row broke out after Aussie skipper Steve Smith admitted that his side had a deliberate plan to tamper the cricket ball.
