CWG: Sathish Kumar wins gold

Gold Coast (Australia), Apr 7 (IBNS): Giving India another proud moment,  weightlifter Sathish Sivalingam (77kg) clinched the third gold medal for the country in the ongoing Commonwealth Games here on Saturday.

He lifted a total of 317kg (114kg+173kg) during the competition.


This is the third day of the event.

He  was ahead of the competition and even did not go for his final clean and jerk lift.

Indian weightlifters have clinched several medals, including two golds, in the CWG event so far.

He had won the gold medal during the 2014 Commonwealth Games at Glasgow in Scotland.

IOA Team India tweeted: "And then the Golden mornings continue to shine bright for India at the @GC2018 #CommonwealthGames! @sathy732 lifts #Gold worth of 317kgs at the #GC2018 #GC2018Weightlifting Men's 77kg Event to win #TeamIndia its 3rd Gold....all from #Weightlifting! #WellDone @WeightliftingIN."
