Cricket legend Muttiah Muralitharan turns 46 today

Kandy, Apr 17 (IBNS): Legendary Sri Lankan spinner Muttiah Muralitharan, who was a nightmare for several batsmen in the world during his heydays, turned 46 on Tuesday.

Muralitharan made his Test debut against Australia in 1992.

He began his One Day International career against India a year later.

The legend picked 800 Test wickets in 133 matches, while, picking up 534 wickets in 350 matches.

He was embroiled in controversy multiple times over his bowling actions.

Muralitharan is presently the bowling coach of Sunrisers Hyderabad, an Indian Premier League franchise.

On the occasion of birthday, India's iconic spinner Harbhajan Singh wished the Sri Lankan on Twitter.

Harbhajan said in a tweet, "Happy birthday to the highest wicket taker in test cricket history #MuttiahMuralitharan Sri Lanka's biggest match winner ever.. and what a humble man.. I wish you a very happy birthday, lots of love and happiness!"
