Clarke congratulates Vijay for his 144

Sydney, Dec 17 (IBNS): Australian captain Michael Clarke on Wednesday congratulated Indian opener Murali Vijay for scoring 144 runs on the first day of the second test against Australia.

"Congrats M Vijay, very good 100," Clarke tweeted.

Clarke has been ruled out of the Test series against India due to injury.

Steve Smith is captaining the side in his absence.

Vijay hammered a stylist 144 and Ajinkya Rahane scored  unbeaten 75 as India posted 311 for the loss of four wickets at the end of the first day of the second Test here on Wednesday.

Australia had defeated India in the first Test to go 1-0 up in the series.

Clarke was the captain of the side.
