Champions League: Liverpool stuns Barcelona, reaches final

London, May 8 (UNI): Liverpool staged one of the great Champions League (CL) comebacks to knock out Barcelona and reach a second consecutive final at Anfield on late Tuesday.

In the second leg, Liverpool stunned Lionel Messi-led Barcelona 4-0 to win 4-3 on aggregate and reach the CL final - while people watched in awe.

For Liverpool, two goals came from Divock Origi and another two from substitute Georginio Wijnaldum, helping the Reds to reach the final.

Argentine star Messi, who scored two goals in the first leg, was unable to influence the game with an away goal that would have been taken his team to the final.

Now, Liverpool will play either Ajax or Tottenham. Ajax has a 1-0 lead, both the teams will take the field in the second leg on Wednesday in Amsterdam.

Earlier, the La Liga champions had thrashed Liverpool 3-0 in the first leg.

In the last edition, Liverpool lost to Real Madrid in the final.

The Reds became only the third team in the history of the European Cup or CL to come from three goals deficit after the first leg of a semi-final and progress after Panathinaikos in 1970-71 and Barcelona themselves in 1985-86.
