Cancer survivor Molino wants to win on every pitch

"Every experience gives you something. You grow as a person in life and professionally. I would like to bring that spirit of never giving up to the field. I want all eleven players in the team to be leaders," Molina said, when asked about what he brings to the team.

A testicular cancer survivor, the 45 year old coach said: "I want to have victory on every pitch against every team. I will meet the players, know them and work with them and hopefully they will take my philosophy on to the ground."

Molina played as a goalkeeper in a professional career that lasted for 11 years during which he donned the jerseys of Atlético Madrid and Deportivo de La Coruña, where he won a total of five titles combined. Over the course of 14 seasons, he appeared in 415 La Liga matches. A Spanish international for four years, Molina represented the nation at the 1998 World Cup and two European Championships.

The team will have a one month camp during which he will decide who to play, how to play. "It is after the camp that we decide whether we play attacking or defensicve and what formation my team will have," he added.

Molina observed that he had a keen eye on the league and thinks it is going to be the biggest thing for India and Asia. "The league is obviously very good and competitive, otherwise I would not have come. I have watched the ATK matches and also played against East Bengal in AFC Cup when I coached Kitchee SC of Hong Kong that I coached. So I have some idea of the standard and it is bound to develop over the years," he said.

Though unwilling to give out much about his strategy, Molina said: "The secret to success is striking a balance between attack and defence. I want to transmit that to the team ad you will see the results in the matches."

ATK will don a new side this time with as many as 10 new Indian players.
