Big five not named in India's World Cup squad

Mumbai, Dec 4 (IBNS): With less than a month left for the 2015 World Cup, Indian selectors on Thursday picked up a preliminary list of 30 Indian probables for the mega 50-over event where senior cricketers like Yuvraj Singh and Zaheer Khan have not been named.

Selectors did not include the names of Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh, Gautam Gambhir and Zaheer Khan in the squad.

Incidentally, all of them, specially Yuvraj Singh, had played a key role in the 2011 World Cup victory.

All of them have not featured in the Indian ODI squad for long time now.

It is only skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni, under whose leadership India had World Cup,  batsmen Virat Kohli and Suresh Raina and off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin are the only survivors from the squad which had played the mega event in 2011.

Yuvraj Singh named in the squad for the Twenty20 World Cup in Bangladesh. He, however, could not retain his form and has not featured in the ODI side in recent times.

The All-India Senior Selection Committee met in Mumbai Thursday and selected the probables for the Indian team to represent at the ICC Cricket World Cup to be played in Australia / New Zealand in Feb - March 2015
