Bengal Celebrity League: Burdwan Blasters book a final berth

| | Jan 11, 2016, at 08:51 pm
Kolkata, Jan 11 (IBNS) After a close encounter in which the Tollywood fans witnessed a plethora of stars taking on each other, Burdwan Blasters emerged victorious beating Midnapore Mighties by 9 runs in the first semifinal of the Bengal Celebrity League, here on Saturday at Kolkata's Kishore Bharati Krirangan.

After losing the toss and asked to bat first, the Blasters put up a mammoth 182 in their allotted 20 overs.

The Mighties' plan backfired when two Blasters' batsmen scored half centuries despite a shaky start to take their score past the 150-run mark.

Even though they lost the encounter, the Mighties' batsmen fought tooth and nail with two of their batsmen raking up half centuries as well.

The match was pretty much in the balance and was clinched in the very last over by the winning team.

The Blasters' bowlers had a bit of help from their fielders who showed some sharp fielding skills while their team was defending the target.

The game concluded with the fall of the Mighties captain, Tollywood star Dev.

The Mighties, who needed a score of runs in the last over managed only half of it to finish second best in the match.

The Blasters will lock horns with Purulia Panthers, who won the second semi-final, for the silverware on Jan 10.
