Mumbai/IBNS: With the postponement of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, the cash-rich Indian Premier League (IPL) is eyeing to host the 13th edition of the tournament in September this year.

The mega-rich cricket league, which was scheduled to be held in April this year, got postponed owing to the coronavirus pandemic.

The IPL Governing Council Chairman Brijesh Patel confirmed that they are looking to hold the 13th edition of the league in the UAE.

Accordingly, the board has sought permission from the country's government to host the same.

The  Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) meanwhile prefers the window between Sept 26 and Nov 7 for the game.

However, the broadcasters have expressed their wish to stage the cash-rich event between Sept 26 and Nov 14, to make the most during the Diwali weekend.

But the Indian team will be travelling to Australia for a four-Test series, starting December 3, and for which the BCCI will have to keep a proper quarantine window before the series.

Earlier on Monday, the International Cricket Council (ICC) confirmed the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Australia 2020 has been postponed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 will now be held during October – November 2021 with the final on Nov 14, 2021.

The ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2022 will be held October-November 2022 with the final on Nov 13, 2022, the body said in a statement revealing revised window for men's events.

The ICC also announced that the full 50 overs ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 will be held in India during October – November 2023 with the final on  Nov 26, 2023.
