BCCI confirms Ireland tour: India set for T20 clash in June
The champion Indian T20 squad will be in action in June, taking on Ireland national cricket team in a two-match series in Belfast, the Board of Control for Cricket in India announced.
The short series will serve as a lead-up to India national cricket team’s white-ball tour of England. The matches are scheduled to be played on June 26 and June 28.
This will mark India’s return to Belfast for the first time since 2007.
“Having toured Ireland three times in the past eight years (2018, 2022 and 2023), this tour will see India return to Belfast after nearly two decades,” the BCCI said in a statement.
Meanwhile, Paul Stirling will step down as captain of Ireland’s T20 International side as part of a new planning cycle leading up to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2028, Cricket Ireland confirmed.
Stirling, 35, will continue to be a key member of the T20I squad and will remain captain of Ireland’s One Day International (ODI) team. He was appointed white-ball captain in 2023 and recently led Ireland at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 in Sri Lanka.
