Bangladesh cricketers shine in latest ODI rankings

Dubai, Apr 23 (IBNS) As many as six Bangladesh players climbed their way up the rankings table in the latest chart released by ICC after the men in green dominated over Pakistan at a recently-concluded ODI series.

Mushfiqur Rahim, Soumya Sarkar and Arafat Sunny achieved their career best rankings whereas Tamim Iqbal Nasir Hossain, Shakib Al Hasan and Rubel Hossain have also improved considerably.

"Mushfiqur, who aggregated 220 runs in three matches with a century and a half-century, has jumped 12 places to break into the top 20 for the first time in his career in 18th position. Soumya, who scored 127 not out in the third ODI, has vaulted 60 places to a career-high 69th spot while Arafat’s series tally of six wickets has earned him 43 places and a 53rd spot in the latest rankings, which were released on Thursday afternoon", said ICC in a media release.

Opener Tamim Iqbal moved up 18 spots from 48 to 30 and all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan gained two places to move up to the 8th rank. Right arm pacer Rubel Hossain climbed five places to notch up the 57th spot.

"For Pakistan, the good news is the rise of left-handed batsman Haris Sohail, who has gained 17 places and is now in 79th spot, and fast bowler Wahab Riaz, who is now in 68th position after climbing four places. Captain Azhar Ali has returned to the rankings in 85th position," said the ICC.
