Melbourne, Jan 29 (IBNS) Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis did the inevitable by winning the Australian Open Women's Doubles title here on Friday.

Mirza and Hingis posted a scoreline of 7(7)-6(1), 6-3 against the Czech pair of A. Hlavackova and  L. Hradecka.

Hradecka and Hlavackova pushed the opening set to the brim, and was leading at a point until the top seeded pair equaled the scores and clinched the first set.

The second set was won with much ease, with both Sania and Martina going for the kill.

Though the Indo-Swiss pair hit more winners (34) than their opponents (31), they also committed more unforced errors (28) as compared to (24) by the Czech pair and had more double faults (5)-(2) than them.

Sania and Martina have virtually been unbeatable, with the pair remaining unbeaten so far in this year.

This also also their 3rd Grand Slam win on the trot.

Receiving the silverware, Martina thanked Sania for her contribution.

"Thank you Sania once again. Without you I wouldn't have been here," the Swiss said.

Sania thanked her family and fans for their continued support and said that she plans to win some more with her partner.
