ATP Challenger: Ramanathan loses singles 2nd round, wins doubles first round

Chandigarh, Sept 26 (UNI): Despite firing 11 aces and committing just one double fault, Ramkumar Ramanathan of India lost to seventh seeded Gregoire Barrere of France in the singles second round match in the ATP Challenger in Orleans (France).

Ramkumar Ramanathan won 76 per cent points (25/33) on his first service and 56 per cent points (14/25) on second service. He saved one break point out of 4 and won one break points out of one.

Barrere won 83 per cent points (29/35) on first service and 62 per cent points (13/21) on second service. He won three break points out of four.

Later in the doubles first round match, Ramkumar Ramanathan (India), pairing Ariel Behar (Uruguay) rallied to overcome French pair of Maxime Janvier of Stephane Robert (France) 3-6, 6-3, 12-10 in one hour and 13 minutes.

Janvier/Robert saved five out of six break points and won one out of three break points. The French pair recorded four aces and committed same number of double faults. Ramanathan/Behar served three aces and committed two double faults. They save two out of three break points while winning just one break point out of 6.

Doubles (Ist round): Ruben Bemelmans (Belgium)/ Nenad Zimonjic (Serbia) bt Purav Raja (India)/Rameez Junai (Australia) 4-6, 7-6 (4), 10-6, Ramkumar Ramanathan (India)/Ariel Behar (Uruguay) bt Maxime Janvier/Stephane Robert (France) 3-6, 6-3, 12-10.

SHARAN/SITAK LOSE: Second seeds Luke Bambridge (Great Britain) and Ben McLachlan (Japan) defeated Divij Sharan (India) and Artem Sitak (New Zealand) 7-6 (2) 6-4 in the doubles first round match in the $931.335 ATP Tour 250 in Zhuhai (China).

The match lasted one hour and 22 minutes.

Doubles (Ist round): Luke Bambridge (Great Britain)/Ben McLachlan (Japan) bt Divij Sharan (India)/Artem Sitak (New Zealand) 7-6 (2) 6-4.
