Atletico de Kolkata embraces Bangladeshi footballer Mamunul Islam

Kolkata, Oct 5 (IBNS) : Atlético de Kolkata continued to excite football fans ahead of the kick off of the inaugural edition of the Indian Super League scheduled to begin on 12th October as the team’s Assistant Coach Jose Ramirez Barreto presented Bangladesh national football team captain Mohammad Mamunul Islam with the team jersey at the Vivekanand Yuva Bharati Krirangan, Saltlake Stadium where Atletico de Kolkata played a friendly for a noble cause with Pinki Roy XI to raise awareness against cancer.

Talking at the sidelines of this event a visibly excited Mohammed Mamunul Islam said, “Wearing the Atlético de Kolkata colours gives me immense satisfaction as a footballer today. My goal will be to play a real part in constructing something special in the football capital of India. The passion of the fans and the love for the game in Kolkata is second to none and I experienced that entirely when I played here during the IFA Shield. I am match ready and look forward to play alongside the exciting group of players in our team.”

Besides being Bangladesh National Team skipper, 25 year old, Mamunul Islam, also leads Bangladesh Premier League champions Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club. Mamunul, also represented the Under-23 national team at the recently concluded Asian Games in South Korea, and joined Atlético de Kolkata post his national duty. Mamunul wowed the spectators in Kolkata during the IFA Shield matches with his skills and the city of joy is looking forward to seeing him in action soon again in their very own Atlético de Kolkata colours scorching the midfield.

Jose Ramirez Barreto, Assistant Coach, Atlético de Kolkata said, “Mamunul is a very promising player from Bangladesh and already has a enviable career graph. His national and club commitments surely must be keeping him match ready when we embark on our quest for the trophy. He is surely a hero in Bangladesh’s football arena and hopefully will soon be the toast of all Atlético de Kolkata fans in India.”
