Arjun Tendulkar makes international U-19 debut with a glitch

Colombo, July 18 (IBNS): Indian batting legend Sachin Tendulkar's son Arjun has made his international U-19 debut and that too with a bang as he has already picked up his maiden wicket.

Sachin's son claimed his first international wicket during the ongoing first Youth Test match against Sri Lanka U-19 team at the Nondescripts Cricket Club ground.

Arjun, a left arm bowler,  needed just 12 balls to claim his maiden international wicket.

He dismissed Sri Lanka's Kamil Mishara LBW.

However, Arjun's debut had a glitch.

The Mumbai lad missed his run-up on the first ball of his first ever game when his skipper had directed him to start the proceedings.

Arjun bowled 11 overs and took a wicket.

Sri Lanka were bowled out for 244 runs.

In reply, India have scored 92 runs for the loss of one wicket at the end of the first day.

Vinod Kambli reacts:

Ex-Indian cricketer Vinod Kambli said he was happy to see Arjun pick up his first wicket in the international arena.

" Tears of joy rolled down when I saw this, have seen him grow up and put in the hard work in his game. Could not be more happy for you, Arjun. This is just the beginning, I wish you tons and ton of success in the days to come. Cherish your first wicket and enjoy the moment.," Kambli tweeted.
