Angelique Kerber remains number one in WTA ranking

London, May 29 (IBNS); German Angelique Kerber on Monday continued to remained the number one Tennis player in the world, as per the latest Women's Tennis Association (WTA) world singles rankings released on Monday.

The player remained the top plyer in th world with 7035 points.

US star Serena Williams remained the second top player in the world.

No changes were seen in the top 10 position in the list.

Angelique Kerber suffered shock defeat in the first round of the women's singles event of the French Open here on Sunday.

The world number one was defeated in the match by  Ekaterina Makarova.

The German was defeated by her opponent 2-6 2-6.

The match lasted for one hour 22 minutes.

This was German's second first round defeat in the French Open in a row.
